🔒 Your PDF and password stay on this device. Closing the tab clears the working state.

Browser-local processing

How is the password applied?

Only when you start the task, a qpdf-based WebAssembly engine loads in a separate Worker and applies an AES-256 open password. The original stays unchanged and a new file is downloaded.

Before you start

  • Encrypted and digitally signed PDFs are not processed.
  • Password removal, recovery, and password finding are not provided.
  • For important documents, open the result and check its pages and links yourself.

A practical example

Choose the document, enter a password, and confirm it. When sharing, consider sending the password through a separate channel instead of putting it in the same message as the file.

Check your result

Open the downloaded file in a PDF viewer and confirm that it asks for a password. Test the correct password, then check the pages and links before sharing.

Keep in mind for this task

  • FileLivo does not store passwords and cannot recover a lost one. Keep your password and unencrypted original separately. An opening password does not prevent copying or screenshots after the document is opened.
