What you get
Quality is adjusted first; pixel dimensions are reduced if needed. Files already under target, or files that would grow after compression, may be returned unchanged.
Before you start
- Not every target is achievable. Check the actual result size before submitting and reconsider the target or source if it is still too large.
- Very low targets can reduce both detail and resolution. JPG fills transparent areas with white; when the original is kept, its format is unchanged too.
Common questions
Will all results have exactly the target size?
No. It is a maximum target, not an exact size. Results depend on image content, and meeting the target is not guaranteed.
Does compression change pixels or just quality?
It can reduce resolution when quality adjustment alone is insufficient. Check the output dimensions if you need a fixed pixel specification.
Why did I download the original file?
The original is kept if it is already under target or if a new result is larger. Check the notice shown alongside the result.
